Portar, the Benzite scientist, emerged from the turbo lift. He quickly walked around the bridge looking over the shoulders of the on duty crewmen as he evaluated each of their efforts. He passed in front of Captain Dorra d’Hexplora before taking a seat beside her. He leaned towards her and said, “The experiment is ready. It’s time to begin, Captain. May we proceed?”

Two massive vessels hung in orbit of a small moon that revolved around a massive, ringed gas giant. The Peacekeeper Command Carrier was facing off against a Scarran Dreadnaught. Their weapons were silent, but each ship’s power levels were high and ready to attack one another at the first sign of aggression. However, neither wanted to be the one to fire the first salvo in what would be a long and bloody war that would envelop all of known space, the uncharted territories, and beyond.
Scarran aggression had spurred the encounter. They were looking to test their peacekeeper counterparts by entering their space and scanning the first world they encountered. They wanted to know how far the peacekeepers would go to protect their territory. War was inevitable, and the Scarrans were in a much better position to win it, if hostilities broke out.
The Scarrans may appear to be nothing more than brutish reptiles, but they were not stupid. They knew that if they began the war now, they better be prepared to win, or risk losing everything. This bold maneuver into peacekeeper space was an opportunity to gather intelligence.
